Friday Foods #5

This week has been one crazy week for me where I haven’t felt like writing. In this time, I also forgot to take pictures of food I had made! So for this week’s Friday Foods, I will be sharing an old recipe from my recipe box. This recipe comes from my Great-Great Aunt May. It’s a recipe for her sugar cookies. I have made these cookies for school, for friends and family, and for the holidays. It’s super simple to make and you’ll have plenty of them!

Original Recipe Card

First, sift into a large bowl: 3 Cups of Flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp baking soda and 1/4 tsp of nutmeg.

Add 1 cup of shortening and mix together.

Beat in 2 eggs.

Then add: 1 cup sugar, 4 tbs of milk, 1 tsp of vanilla. Mix together.

You can then roll out the dough and cut using cooking cutters. Bake at 400F. It doesn’t say for how long on the recipe, but if I remember correctly it is usually about 8 minutes for it to bake.

I hope you enjoy this sugar cookie recipe. I’ve had lots of compliments on them, so I hope you’ll get some too!

xx Hannah
