Going into reading this manga, I knew it was going to be dark and emotional – not too different from other manga I’ve read before. What I was not expecting was to be left with an existential crisis on the philosophy of why we are here and why we were born!
The illustrations of the animals are adorable, which is why I think the overarching theme hits a lot harder when you see these cute animals struggling.
I think there was some mistranslation at times that made it confusing on who was who when reading, but it wasn’t too much to put me off in my opinion.
Overall, I think this manga will stick with me forever as it does a great job bringing up big life questions in a cute subversive way. I’m looking forward to reading more work from the author.
Thank you Kodansha Comics & NetGalley for this ARC to review!
This series had caught my eye, but it completely escaped my mind until I saw your review! I wonder if it will be a series, or just a one-shot…
