Knowing Me, Knowing You

It’s a rainy day here in London (big surprise, I know). Rainy days make me want to just lay in bed and nap all day. That being said, I had been struggling on what was really speaking to me for a topic to write. After perusing around Pinterest, I found some question prompts that were fun to answer and reminisce. These prompts could be perfect for your next Zoom call or the next time you meet someone new!

What was the first poster you put on your bedroom wall and where did it come from?

I’m not sure if this is correct, but the first poster I remember having was a Barbie Swan Lake poster. I loved that movie! I either got it as a gift or when I was looking at posters in Walmart. This movie came out in 2003, so I was only 6 years old.

What is the most evocative smell you know? Not your favourite, but the one which best conjures up a picture or story.

For me it’s the smell of wood. When I was in fourth grade, I went to 4-H camp about an hour away from home. We stayed in cabins and I can distinctly remember the smell of wood and bonfire. Anytime I smell someone having a bonfire or I find a candle that has that “log cabin” scent, I am immediately transported back to when I was 11 at summer camp.

Which shop from your childhood do you miss?

Hands down it has to be Toys’R’Us. I remember going there on my birthday, getting a balloon, having my name announced over the intercom and getting to pick out a toy. It was one of my favourite places to go to, even though we really only went on my birthday. I’m pretty sure I got a Hello Kitty phone there – she was supposed to be a fairy and the wings would light up when someone was calling.

What is your favourite kind of weather and how does it make you feel?

I love partly sunny days in the summer. Where the sun isn’t blazing down on you, but it’s still bright enough outside to enjoy your day. Summer is my favourite season because the days are longer and everything doesn’t feel as bleak as winter.

What do you think about in the dentist’s chair?

This question makes me laugh because I have spent hours in a dentist and orthodontist chair. A lot of the times, I’d try and figure out what they were talking about or what was going to happen to me. At my dentists I went to when I was younger, they would have a movie playing or you could watch TV. That would help distract what was going on with my teeth. Sometimes I would just stare at the light overhead and daydream. The list could go on..

I hope these prompts were fun to read. There are so many more to choose from, but I picked these five because they were the most interesting to me. Do you have any go to prompts you ask people when you first meet them? I personally think the first poster prompt will tell you a lot about a person.

xx Hannah
